2013 BMW 316d in Ireland: What 150+ Real Listings Actually Show
The 2013 BMW 316d is the quiet workhorse of the Irish used diesel market. High-spec German saloons that have done the miles, usually driven a long commute into Dublin or Cork for a decade, now sit anywhere from EUR 3,750 to EUR 8,950 in the Irish market depending on condition, history, and mileage. We ran 14 independent valuations on 2013 BMW 316d listings across recent months. Our analysis covered over 1,100 separate live Irish listings in the process. Here is what the real data shows.

Real listings from the data
A sample of the actual listings our analysis found. All prices, mileages, years and counties come directly from live Irish classifieds. The corridor naturally includes adjacent-year 316 variants and the closely-related 320d, because the 316d trades in the same 3-Series diesel corridor as its siblings.
What the spread tells you
Across Ireland, a 2013 BMW 316d sits in a EUR 2,800 corridor. That is a wide range for a single make, model, and year. Condition matters. Mileage matters more. Service history matters most. A car with a full BMW dealer history and under 250,000 km sits at the top of the corridor. A higher-mileage private-sale car with patchy history sits near the bottom.
Why dealers offer so much less
If you walk into a dealer with a 2013 316d, expect an offer between EUR 3,500 and EUR 5,000. The dealer needs to cover reconditioning, advertise the car for weeks or months, and still take a margin. That is a legitimate business model, but it is not the market value of your car. It is the wholesale price of your car to a reseller.
The private sale price, which is what you would actually get from a live Irish listing after a week or two, sits at around EUR 6,321 for a typical example. That is a EUR 1,300 gap, and it is the reason it pays to know your number before you walk through a dealer's door.
If you are buying
EUR 6,321 is the fair market for a 2013 316d in average condition. Anything listed above EUR 8,000 needs to justify the premium. Full service history, mileage under 250,000 km, one-owner provenance, or genuine BMW parts records are the only reasons to pay more. The two EUR 8,000-plus examples in our sample above are M Sport trim with lower-than-average mileage, which is exactly the kind of premium the market tolerates. If an ad is asking that much without those justifications, walk away.
If you are selling
List at EUR 7,000, drop to EUR 6,400 after a week if you have no serious enquiries, and drop to EUR 5,300 after two weeks if you still have nothing. Most 2013 316d cars in Ireland sell within twelve days on this schedule. Ads priced above EUR 8,000 simply rot.
