BMW 5 Series Prices in Ireland 2026: Diesel Values Without Mixing the Variants

A BMW 5 Series search covers more than one kind of purchase. For this guide the starting point is diesel adverts, with mileage and engine matching applied by the existing valuation engine.

This September 2026 guide uses current Irish advertised listings gathered through CarValue.ie’s market-search and comparison engine. The largest usable pricing group here is 2020, with 16 adverts and a median asking price of €31,998. Its middle half runs from €31,412 to €34,900. The 2024 and 2020 medians differ by €19,998. That is a difference between today’s advertised cohorts, not measured depreciation of one car; mileage, engine, specification and seller mix can also differ.

2024: 3 pricing listings in the 0k-60k km (±30k) band; 3 dealer and 0 private adverts; advertised engines: 2.0 L (3). Median asking price €51,995. The small group is particularly sensitive to individual adverts.

Keep a diesel comparison separate from plug-in adverts

A plug-in hybrid is not an interchangeable diesel comparable even when the body and year look similar. Check the exact engine designation, body style and gearbox. If comparing a saloon with an estate, treat the practical and market differences as a separate question rather than burying them in one average.

For buyers: compare the complete car

Review service records and inspect the car before valuing optional equipment. A cheaper purchase can still require work that changes the overall budget. Compare the complete cost and condition of plausible alternatives, not just the first asking price in a sorted search.

For sellers: support the asking price

Give buyers the exact engine, specification and maintenance details. An expensive option list from the original invoice is not evidence that those options retain their original cost. Current competing adverts and the individual car's condition are more relevant to today's asking price.

How to use these figures for your own car

The reference mileage is the input used for each research case, not the exact mileage of every advert. The selected band can widen where matches are sparse. Engine and fuel filters also depend on the information in the listings; the notes above show the observed engine mix where available.

The middle 50% is the range from the lower to the upper quartile of the selected asking prices. It is neither the full cheapest-to-dearest range nor a prediction interval for a sale. A buyer’s negotiated amount and a dealer’s trade-in offer can differ from these advertised numbers.

Use the guide to establish the right comparison group, then check current evidence for your actual mileage and specification. A CarValue.ie report shows the listings behind its estimate; an inspection and your car’s records answer the condition questions that listing data cannot.
