Hyundai i20 Prices in Ireland 2026: Is the Extra Space Worth the Asking Price?

An i20 often reaches a shortlist because a smaller city car feels a little too small. That is a practical reason to shop, but it does not tell you which used example deserves the money. The price comparison still needs a specific engine, gearbox and condition.

We checked live Irish listings on 21 September 2026 for 2018, 2020 and 2022 Hyundai i20 adverts. After filtering, this petrol snapshot contains 38 adverts across the three selected years. The largest group is 2022: 20 adverts, an average asking price of €17,900 and a median of €18,450. These are advertised prices, not completed sales or a personalised valuation.

Republic of Ireland petrol asking prices. Exact-year searches; no target-mileage filter. Prices rounded to €50 and median mileage to 1,000 km. Middle 50% means the lower-to-upper quartile, not the cheapest-to-dearest range. Different trims, bodies and mileages may be mixed.

Make the extra space earn its keep

Try rear-seat access and the boot before assuming the step up solves your needs. Then compare examples with similar equipment. A sporty-looking version can be attractive without being the right benchmark for a simpler car, and a year-only average should not turn that appearance into an automatic premium.

What changes between the selected years?

The 2022 median is €9,500 higher than the 2018 median in this snapshot. Their typical advertised mileages are approximately 58,000 km and 142,000 km respectively. That is a comparison of different cars advertised today. It is not a depreciation measurement, an upgrade quote or proof that the year alone creates the price gap. The middle-price bands for those two groups do not overlap in this sample, but the full sets of adverts can still contain exceptions.

How wide is the price spread?

Within the 2022 group, the middle half of asking prices runs from €16,950 to €19,500. That is a spread of about €2,550 before considering the highest and lowest quarter of adverts. The average uses every eligible price; the median is the middle observation and is less sensitive to a few unusually expensive cars. Neither measure adjusts this table to your mileage or exact specification.

Sell the car you have

State the exact version and mileage unit, show the interior and provide maintenance evidence. If your asking price sits above similar adverts, explain the differences a buyer can verify. If you are buying, use the same list to decide whether the premium is useful to you rather than merely present in the advert.

What is actually in the sample?

2018: 6 eligible adverts; fuel labels: 6 petrol; seller labels: 4 dealer, 2 private. Fewer than ten adverts makes this group especially sensitive to individual cars.

2020: 12 eligible adverts; fuel labels: 12 petrol; seller labels: 8 dealer, 4 private.

2022: 20 eligible adverts; fuel labels: 20 petrol; seller labels: 19 dealer, 1 private.

How we collected the figures

We fetched every available results page for each selected year and removed duplicate adverts, listings outside the Republic, missing or implausible price/mileage entries, and obvious parts, wanted or non-running adverts. This is an unweighted snapshot of eligible asking prices, with dealer and private adverts retained. Adverts and search filters can contain mistakes; the source links let you check what is available now.
