Hyundai Kona Electric vs Nissan Leaf: Asking Price and Charging Fit
A Kona Electric and a Leaf should be compared as complete electric-car packages. Battery version, documented condition and charging suitability can matter more to your daily use than a modest difference in advertised price.
In the 2020 selected groups, the median asking prices are €16,995 for Hyundai Kona Electric (5 adverts) and €11,915 for Nissan Leaf (8 adverts). Hyundai Kona Electric is €5,080 higher in these samples. At least one side has fewer than ten comparisons, so individual advertisements can materially affect the difference.

What this comparison does and does not control
The research uses electric listings, but model-level samples may contain different battery versions and equipment. The median gap is not a controlled price per unit of battery capacity and does not measure the health of either car's battery.
The evidence behind the medians
2020 Hyundai Kona Electric: 5 pricing adverts, 60k-120k km (±30k); 5 dealer and 0 private. Battery and drivetrain versions may be mixed.
2020 Nissan Leaf: 8 pricing adverts, 75k-105k km (±15k); 6 dealer and 2 private. Battery and drivetrain versions may be mixed.
2022 Hyundai Kona Electric: 5 pricing adverts, 30k-90k km (±30k); 4 dealer and 1 private. Battery and drivetrain versions may be mixed.
2022 Nissan Leaf: 9 pricing adverts, 45k-75k km (±15k); 8 dealer and 1 private. Battery and drivetrain versions may be mixed.
Start with your actual requirements
Confirm each car's charging connections and capabilities from its documentation. Map those against your home, workplace and regular public charging options. Two electric cars at the same price can impose different routines, so check the routine before choosing the bargain.
For buyers: compare the complete purchase
Ask for the evidence behind battery-health claims and verify the remaining cover, if any. Inspect ordinary wear and accident history as well. A dashboard showing a full charge does not answer the battery-condition question.
For sellers: understand the alternative shortlist
State the battery version and supplied equipment precisely. A buyer comparing these models needs enough information to judge range and charging fit for their own use. Avoid implying that the highest-priced different battery version sets your car's value.
Turn the gap into a useful decision
Keep the asking-price difference separate from the cost of any known work and from your running-cost assumptions. If you estimate annual savings, label the consumption, distance and price assumptions so that changing one does not silently change the conclusion.
These are cross-sectional asking-price samples gathered on one date. They are not completed sales, a reliability ranking or a forecast of what either car will be worth next year. Use a current, exact-car comparison and an inspection before committing money.
