Opel Insignia Prices in Ireland 2026: Big-Car Comfort, Used-Car Asking Prices

An Insignia can make a large-car budget look tempting. That is a reason to compare carefully, not to assume the purchase is a bargain. At these ages, the body, drivetrain, records and preparation needed can be more useful than a simple newer-versus-older rule.

We checked live Irish listings on 21 September 2026 for 2016, 2018 and 2020 Opel Insignia adverts. After filtering, this diesel snapshot contains 72 adverts across the three selected years. The largest group is 2018: 30 adverts, an average asking price of €10,050 and a median of €9,950. These are advertised prices, not completed sales or a personalised valuation.

Republic of Ireland diesel asking prices. Exact-year searches; no target-mileage filter. Prices rounded to €50 and median mileage to 1,000 km. Middle 50% means the lower-to-upper quartile, not the cheapest-to-dearest range. Different trims, bodies and mileages may be mixed.

Compare the same body and gearbox

Decide which layout fits your needs, then narrow the diesel search to comparable engines and transmissions. If an estate or a particular equipment level is essential, price against those cars. A broad model average can otherwise mix together vehicles you would not consider buying.

What changes between the selected years?

The 2020 median is €7,050 higher than the 2016 median in this snapshot. Their typical advertised mileages are approximately 191,000 km and 214,000 km respectively. That is a comparison of different cars advertised today. It is not a depreciation measurement, an upgrade quote or proof that the year alone creates the price gap. The middle-price bands for those two groups do not overlap in this sample, but the full sets of adverts can still contain exceptions.

How wide is the price spread?

Within the 2018 group, the middle half of asking prices runs from €8,050 to €11,700. That is a spread of about €3,650 before considering the highest and lowest quarter of adverts. The average uses every eligible price; the median is the middle observation and is less sensitive to a few unusually expensive cars. Neither measure adjusts this table to your mileage or exact specification.

Do the ready-to-drive arithmetic

Put any identified work beside the asking price before comparing two examples. Use an inspection and actual quotes rather than a guessed model-wide repair allowance. Sellers should explain recent documented work and show condition plainly, while recognising that expenditure alone does not dictate what the next buyer will pay.

What is actually in the sample?

2016: 29 eligible adverts; fuel labels: 29 diesel; seller labels: 18 private, 11 dealer.

2018: 30 eligible adverts; fuel labels: 30 diesel; seller labels: 21 dealer, 9 private.

2020: 13 eligible adverts; fuel labels: 13 diesel; seller labels: 11 dealer, 2 private.

How we collected the figures

We fetched every available results page for each selected year and removed duplicate adverts, listings outside the Republic, missing or implausible price/mileage entries, and obvious parts, wanted or non-running adverts. This is an unweighted snapshot of eligible asking prices, with dealer and private adverts retained. Adverts and search filters can contain mistakes; the source links let you check what is available now.
