Volkswagen Tiguan vs Skoda Kodiaq: Price the Family Requirement First

For this SUV comparison, the first question is which cars meet your seating and luggage requirements. A lower asking price is not a saving if it refers to a configuration that cannot do the job you need.

In the 2020 selected groups, the median asking prices are €29,950 for Volkswagen Tiguan (13 adverts) and €32,350 for Skoda Kodiaq (8 adverts). Skoda Kodiaq is €2,400 higher in these samples. At least one side has fewer than ten comparisons, so individual advertisements can materially affect the difference.

What this comparison does and does not control

Both research groups use diesel adverts, but the model names do not guarantee equivalent seating, body dimensions, drivetrain or equipment. Treat the price table as a shortlist map and verify the actual configuration of every candidate.

The evidence behind the medians

Start with your actual requirements

Confirm the number of fitted seats and inspect usable luggage space with the seats in the positions you need. Keep Tiguan Allspace separate from a standard Tiguan comparison rather than assuming the names can be merged. Check gearbox and drivetrain too.

For buyers: compare the complete purchase

Bring the relevant passenger or child-seat requirements to a viewing and assess the exact car. Compare maintenance evidence and condition alongside the price. Any extra asking amount should buy something you need, rather than just a larger-looking vehicle in a photograph.

For sellers: understand the alternative shortlist

Describe seating and model details explicitly. Buyers shopping both models should be able to see whether your car meets their practical brief. Use close same-model adverts to set the asking price, then consider how competing SUVs affect the buyer's alternatives.

Turn the gap into a useful decision

Keep the asking-price difference separate from the cost of any known work and from your running-cost assumptions. If you estimate annual savings, label the consumption, distance and price assumptions so that changing one does not silently change the conclusion.

These are cross-sectional asking-price samples gathered on one date. They are not completed sales, a reliability ranking or a forecast of what either car will be worth next year. Use a current, exact-car comparison and an inspection before committing money.
