Honda Civic value in Ireland
The Civic sits in an unusual spot in the Irish market: a petrol-led car in a country that spent a decade buying diesel. The eighth generation cars from 2006 to 2011 still circulate as budget buys, but the bulk of active trade is in the 2012 to 2016 ninth generation and the 2017 to 2021 tenth generation with its 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC Turbo petrol engines. The current hybrid-only e:HEV arrived in 2022 in small numbers and remains scarce second-hand.
Because Honda sold modest new volumes in Ireland, a noticeable share of used Civics are UK imports. Buyers here typically want the VRT paperwork, service history and mileage record fully documented, and Irish-supplied cars tend to sell faster for that reason. Honda's reliability reputation does real work underneath: Civics are often owned by careful, older keepers, which shows in condition and supports demand.
Engine choice matters. The 1.6 i-DTEC diesel earned a strong commuter following, but petrol Civics are now the easier sale for most buyers, and the scarce hybrid typically commands a premium. As with most Hondas, a documented service history counts for more than headline mileage, though high mileage cars still take longer to move.
