Renault Megane Prices in Ireland 2026: How Much for a Diesel Family Car?

A diesel Megane can be a practical alternative to the most obvious family-car shortlist. The price search becomes more useful once the body and gearbox are fixed. Without that step, the comparison may be between cars that solve different problems.

We checked live Irish listings on 21 September 2026 for 2016, 2018 and 2020 Renault Megane adverts. After filtering, this diesel snapshot contains 76 adverts across the three selected years. The largest group is 2018: 43 adverts, an average asking price of €10,700 and a median of €10,450. These are advertised prices, not completed sales or a personalised valuation.

Republic of Ireland diesel asking prices. Exact-year searches; no target-mileage filter. Prices rounded to €50 and median mileage to 1,000 km. Middle 50% means the lower-to-upper quartile, not the cheapest-to-dearest range. Different trims, bodies and mileages may be mixed.

Choose the shape before comparing the range

Check whether the advert is for the body you need, then compare engine description, gearbox and equipment. A boot that works for one owner may not suit another. The table combines eligible diesel adverts by year; it does not assign the same value to every body or derivative.

What changes between the selected years?

The 2020 median is €7,000 higher than the 2016 median in this snapshot. Their typical advertised mileages are approximately 120,000 km and 160,000 km respectively. That is a comparison of different cars advertised today. It is not a depreciation measurement, an upgrade quote or proof that the year alone creates the price gap. The middle-price bands for those two groups do not overlap in this sample, but the full sets of adverts can still contain exceptions.

How wide is the price spread?

Within the 2018 group, the middle half of asking prices runs from €9,200 to €11,950. That is a spread of about €2,750 before considering the highest and lowest quarter of adverts. The average uses every eligible price; the median is the middle observation and is less sensitive to a few unusually expensive cars. Neither measure adjusts this table to your mileage or exact specification.

Use records to make the conversation concrete

Ask for maintenance evidence and an inspection appropriate to the actual vehicle. Sellers should describe completed work accurately and show the cabin and body condition. A buyer can weigh those facts against another Megane. Neither a flattering photograph nor an unspecific reputation should be used to fill gaps in the evidence.

What is actually in the sample?

2016: 17 eligible adverts; fuel labels: 17 diesel; seller labels: 13 dealer, 4 private.

2018: 43 eligible adverts; fuel labels: 43 diesel; seller labels: 25 dealer, 18 private.

2020: 16 eligible adverts; fuel labels: 16 diesel; seller labels: 13 dealer, 3 private.

How we collected the figures

We fetched every available results page for each selected year and removed duplicate adverts, listings outside the Republic, missing or implausible price/mileage entries, and obvious parts, wanted or non-running adverts. This is an unweighted snapshot of eligible asking prices, with dealer and private adverts retained. Adverts and search filters can contain mistakes; the source links let you check what is available now.
