Volvo XC40 Prices in Ireland 2026: Check the Powertrain Before Comparing XC40 Prices
An XC40 badge is not enough to tell you which used-car market you are looking at. A broad search can include substantially different powertrains. That makes the fuel breakdown just as important as the headline price figures.
We checked live Irish listings on 21 September 2026 for 2019, 2021 and 2023 Volvo XC40 adverts. After filtering, this mixed-powertrain snapshot contains 76 adverts across the three selected years. The largest group is 2023: 38 adverts, an average asking price of €32,150 and a median of €32,950. These are advertised prices, not completed sales or a personalised valuation.

Republic of Ireland mixed-powertrain asking prices. Exact-year searches; no target-mileage filter. Prices rounded to €50 and median mileage to 1,000 km. Middle 50% means the lower-to-upper quartile, not the cheapest-to-dearest range. Different trims, bodies and mileages may be mixed. Fuel types are mixed; check the breakdown before comparing years.
Treat this as a map of the market
This snapshot deliberately starts without a fuel filter. Read the observed fuel mix for each year before comparing its median with another year. When choosing an individual car, build a narrower shortlist with the same powertrain, gearbox and relevant specification. A changing mix can move a year group's average without saying anything about one car's value.
What changes between the selected years?
The 2023 median is €11,500 higher than the 2019 median in this snapshot. Their typical advertised mileages are approximately 76,000 km and 138,000 km respectively. That is a comparison of different cars advertised today. It is not a depreciation measurement, an upgrade quote or proof that the year alone creates the price gap. The middle-price bands for those two groups do not overlap in this sample, but the full sets of adverts can still contain exceptions.
How wide is the price spread?
Within the 2023 group, the middle half of asking prices runs from €29,950 to €34,900. That is a spread of about €4,950 before considering the highest and lowest quarter of adverts. The average uses every eligible price; the median is the middle observation and is less sensitive to a few unusually expensive cars. Neither measure adjusts this table to your mileage or exact specification.
Choose around your actual routine
Think about your journeys, charging access where relevant and the space you need. Then inspect the records and condition of suitable cars. Sellers should state the exact version prominently; making a buyer guess the powertrain from a badge or a photograph creates avoidable friction before a viewing is even arranged.
What is actually in the sample?

How we collected the figures
We fetched every available results page for each selected year and removed duplicate adverts, listings outside the Republic, missing or implausible price/mileage entries, and obvious parts, wanted or non-running adverts. This is an unweighted snapshot of eligible asking prices, with dealer and private adverts retained. Adverts and search filters can contain mistakes; the source links let you check what is available now.
