BMW 3 Series value in Ireland
The Irish used market for the 3 Series is built around two generations: the F30, sold from 2012 to 2019, and the G20 that replaced it. Older E90 cars still trade, but mostly at the budget end where NCT status and service history decide the sale. Diesel dominates the stock, a legacy of CO2-based motor tax that made the 318d and 320d the default choice for Irish buyers for over a decade.
Fuel type now splits the market. Rural buyers and long-distance commuters still favour diesel, while urban demand has moved toward the 330e plug-in hybrid and petrol 320i, and a clean 330e typically sells faster in Dublin than an equivalent diesel. Trim matters too: M Sport cars tend to hold value noticeably better than SE and Sport, and buyers often pay up for the look alone.
Two structural factors shape values. UK imports historically made up a large share of Irish 3 Series stock, and post-Brexit VRT and customs costs have choked that supply, which supports values of Irish-registered cars. Mileage sensitivity is real but forgiving: these cars are bought by people who expect motorway use, so a full service history often matters more than the odometer. High-mileage ex-fleet diesels without records are the hardest sell.
