Volkswagen Tiguan value in Ireland
Few family SUVs are as easy to sell in the Irish used market as the Tiguan. The second generation, sold from 2016 to 2024, dominates listings, usually with the 2.0 TDI diesel that Irish buyers overwhelmingly chose when the cars were new. The first generation still trades at the budget end, where NCT status and service history matter most, while the newest generation remains scarce secondhand.
Diesel demand has stayed solid for the Tiguan because its typical buyer is a family covering real mileage, often outside the main cities. Petrol 1.4 and 1.5 TSI versions have grown in appeal with urban buyers, and the eHybrid plug-in remains a small slice of supply. Trim has a real effect: R-Line cars typically sell fastest and hold value best, while sparsely equipped base cars can linger. The seven-seat Allspace attracts a specific buyer and often carries a premium when tidy.
Mileage sensitivity is moderate. Buyers expect a diesel Tiguan to have worked, so a documented service history, particularly for the DSG gearbox where fitted, tends to matter more than the odometer alone. UK imports are widespread in this segment, so Irish-supplied cars with a clean history often enjoy a visible advantage in buyer interest.
